Home course in Florida has thick saw palmettos

Home course in Florida has thick saw palmettos for most of the rough. We would use spotters and still take 60-90+ mins per round looking for discs. We would still lose discs on a regular basis. Once we started using these beepers we cut our disc search down to 3 mins or less per disc. Rounds went from 3hrs+ to usually 2hrs or less. These have saved us time, energy and most importantly discs!

I love having locators on my discs

I love having locators on my discs. I play often at Solitude Mountain, Brighton Resort, Wasatch Wunder and frequently travel for disc golf. Not having to look for my discs increases the fun by taking away that frustration. I used discbeepers from 2011 until I ran out a couple years ago. I’ve gone through lots of the 3 generations of hellodisc beepers and they are good too, just not as durable. But the price is right! I bought the “retailer pack” for $100 for myself, because they break and the batteries die. With the bonus ones, I got 40 of them for $100, so no complaints here. They break, I stick another on and keep going. Finding discs can be really hard at Solitude - I got 8 rounds in there in the past 2 weeks and mention them to everyone I see. Thanks so much for making them!!!

Pros and Cons

Pros are cost, simplicity, no apps or gps and ease of install, and flight did not seem to be altered. Cons are no clear instructions on activation of device, (hit the "on/off button multiple times to go through some sort of programming start up menu) did not work well in the rain, device would short out and then stop working until dry and need to reboot through the startup program again, also device might glitch and turn off on a hard impact. Overall still a good device to limit risk of loosing a disc.

fantastic customer service, not the most fantastic device

I want to open with saying that the customer service side of Hellodisc is incredible. Very friendly, very helpful. Easily worth purchasing just to support a company that actually TRIES, you know? That said, When I first opened 8 of the 10 packs (32 total devices) 15 of them didn't work. I sent an email to support and they sent me 15 replacement devices, of which 4 didn't work. Of the remaining 2 of the 10 packs (8 total devices) 4 didn't work. I sent an email about this, and haven't heard a response yet.

That said, the biggest issue with these is that if they get a LITTLE bit wet, they go haywire and either die completely, die temporarily, or fall apart. 2 of my devices fell to pieces after getting wet and drying off. Like the adhesive just wasn't holding them together anymore. Today I did drills in a dew covered field with all 18 of my active discs, and ALL of them started making crazy noises and stopped functioning. They're all drying out on racks now, so I don't know which have died completely or not. I'm looking into things I could do to waterproof them without adding too much weight right now, but until then, I have to say just don't use these if they're going to get wet. I understand that hellodisc uses IP68 waterproof materials, but the reality is what it is. They simply are not waterproof, or even water resistant.

I do want to stress again that THE PURCHASE IS WORTH IT. When they work I've found my discs several times when I would have lost them. Found discs I FORGOT I THREW, even. And the company does the work to be good people in the customer service department. I'd rather give them my money than some trash company that doesn't care about their product.

Works Great

These are great. I tried others and there were too many options. Without all the options it makes them easy to use: a huge plus. At 58 it's a little hard for me to hear the high pitch frequency, but they still help.
